  • Horror Comics Run-Down: Little Sisters Doom Hellboy Extremist

In the interest of maintaining what little amount of sanity I have, after this Horror Comics Run-Down I’m going to stick to trade paper backs of comics. This is simply because I have so many comics floating around my house, and I lose track of what number I’m on very easily. So, from now on, only trade paperbacks, but for this post I’m still going to talk about The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger: The Little Sisters of Eluria 1, Edge of Doom 2, and Hellboy: The Sleeping and The Dead Issue 1. Afterwards, I will extoll the genius of The Extremist, which I have in trade paperback form.

So First off The Little Sisters of Eluria. Written by Robin Furth and Peter David, with art by Luke Ross and Richard Isanove. What can I say, it’s there. Didn’t leave much of an impression, until the end where we see The Sisters in question. Next.

Edge of Doom number two by Steve Niles with art by Kelley Jones. I was kind of confused by this, as I guess I didn’t realize Edge of Doom was going to be an anthology type of thing. Still, this story was cool, a typical guy trapped on a planet with no hope of rescue story, with a twist. Next.

Hellboy The Sleeping and The Dead issue one, with a story by Mike Mignola and art by Scott Hampton. I really like the story so far, even though vampires have been done to death in everything. When done by a master like Mignola though, for some reason I will sit through it. Despite the fact that I’m getting dangerously close to being really fucking sick of vampires. Next.

Ah yes, this little gem. This little book is very disturbing, and I loved it. The Extremist, written by Peter Milligan with art by Ted Mckeever, is very heavy on the S and M thing. It’s a leather clad look at the seedy side of life, and I loved every page of it. It was actually put out in 1993, and was re-released under the Vertigo Resurrected line. Quite an interesting line indeed, one which you might blow off a fine piece of ass, perchance?
