Frozen Review

Easily the best thing Adam Green has done to date. I’m normally not a fan, I didn’t really like Hatchet and Spiral kinda left me with a meh taste in my mouth. Yet Frozen, though not without its flaws, is an effective ride through the snow and wilderness. Pun totally intended! (I’m a douchebag.)
We follow three individuals, college kids to be precise, one lady, and two menfolk.
Not to give anything away, but they somehow get trapped outside during a bit of frosty weather, and then the party really begins!
One of the major and only pet peeves I had with the film, were the scenes with the wolves. Let me explain, first off since Green is a Massachusetts local, I’m assuming the mountain of his film is either in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, or Maine. Now, they did find a wolf for the first time in a long time in Massachusetts in about 2007, but that was the first one found in hundreds of years in the area. Likewise, even allowing that wolves populate New England, wolves are not exactly man eaters. Pretty sure I learned that one from Wildboyz.
Which brings me to my second major beef with the logic of the film. So, you are outside freezing to death. You are so cold, and you wish there was a way to cover up your exposed face. You do everything you can think of to keep warm. But you don’t zip up your jacket all the way? Or wear your hat stretched down over your face? I realize it would have been difficult for the actors to emote, but still, it doesn’t really make that much sense that these people slowly freezing to death would keep their jackets only zipped up to the chest area. Zip that shit up!
Other than that though, I have to say the film got me at times, and dare I say it had me anxious for its characters.
Three frostbitten hands, out of five.
